Oh man some great food here. They have a drive up window too if you order take-out and cant wait to eat your enchiladas until you get out of the parking lot. They have a dish that is shrimp wrapped in bacon and fried, it's damn good and needs to be tried by everyone at least once. Mole sauce isn't very spicy, more on the sweeter side. Fresh chips. Never had an unfriendly server here either. Prices range from $8-$15 a plate for the high dollar stuff. Most everything is around $10.

This review is for the Redlands location. My Tacos de Asada were very fresh with wonderful bursts of tastiness that also somehow managed to be balanced. The side of rice was moist and soft, unlike most places where it's usually dried out. I opted for the Rancho beans instead of the refried, and those were cooked perfectly (not under or overdone). I also appreciated that none of the items had been drowned in cheese. My dish was delivered on one huge platter that looked slightly ridiculous in front of me (I'm on the small side). The husband's combination tostada was rather rich due to the marinades, but the dish had really interesting flavor; it, too, was generously apportioned. The building looks like an old fast food restaurant (they still maintain a drive-thru window!), but Aztecas did a great job remodeling inside with tall, comfy booths and an intuitive layout. The former ordering counter has been converted into a bar, and the host station is right in front of the west door. Overall, it appeared clean and with good lighting. Plenty of paved parking. We had been greeted right away, and our server and his colleagues were extremely friendly and attentive. Our waters were topped off at least 3 times. The menu is huge, but I have a feeling you can't really go wrong with any of the items. We felt that it was reasonably priced.

Below average, salty food. The portions are large, maybe that's why they got good reviews. Or maybe I needed to go to their other location to eat this "real Mexican" the other yelpers mentioned. The staff was friendly and efficient- so u face them a two star rating.

Not quite as nice as the interior of a Dell Taco, with prices four times as high. My wife and I ate here based on yelp reviews, as we were staying at a hotel nearby. Perhaps the community standards are much lower here as the yelp reviews were very positive. We live in a tiny little town in California where you can buy a taco at seven or eight different joints where the food is excellent, for about a dollar to a dollar and a half. my wife took only a few bites of her burrito and left the rest because of the salt content. My carne asada taco was rubbery and fatty with a low quality tortilla. We paid the $17 bill (One taco, one burrito, one Ice tea) but walked on the food after tasting it. The staff was very friendly.

This location is good as the one off of highway 50. Same delicious Mexican food, and incredibly friendly staff. It has a lot of competition with dos right across the street, but do yourself a favor and stop by here instead sometime.

One of my top favs for Mexican food in the valley. I'm from Texas so Tex-Mex is my standard so I'm extremely picky. This one is as close as it gets only thing they lack really is the flavor of the refried beans I'm used to and they don't have queso. Oh yeah and no chicken sour cream enchiladas. :( But I love their tacos and tostadas. Not bad!

Unfortunately, the most recent times we've visited the quality of food dropped precipitously. The food did not seem as fresh and actually made my husband sick, twice! The people are still very nice and the Margarita's are all right but other than that I personally have crossed this place off of our list. Once again, there are almost no places in Grand Junction to get truly good Mexican food. The closest we get is a small taquiera on 7th street south of Enstroms...always super clean, food is fresh and tasty. Also, strangely, a small drive through restaurant just East of the V.A. Hospital on North Avenue, has good chili rellenos, great tortillas and good beans too. Service isn't great and I haven't inspected the kitchen for cleanliness but this is a good go to place. Neither spot is fancy, more like hole in the wall places. Any big place you try here you can count on frozen and canned food and for several some dubious reasons for their existence in this town.

I think this is probably the best Mexican restaurant in town. Prices are a little higher and the building is a little dated, but mmm the food is good. I had the three enchiladas, we all had beeraritas, fajitas were good. Everyone was happy.

We love this resturant, the deco is minimal, but the food is why you come here. The menu is divided into several sections, so you might be confused at first, but not for long. I love the Chicken Fajitas, the Fajita Burrito, the Asada Burrito, the Pollo Asado and several other dishes on the menu. Rest assured, you WILL find something you love here. This is real Mexican food, not Gringo food. This is the second location here in town, and I think the food here is even better than the original location on Orchard Mesa. The selection is huge, as are the quantities of the servings. We go here almost every week, and the service is top notch, as is the quality of the food. Each dish is cooked to order, and can be customized to your liking. We have never had a bad meal here, and we go in knowing that IF something were to be wrong, they would correct it immediately.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
